Welcome to the official Ski Oakenfull Website.
Ski is an Artist, Keyboard player, Producer, Remixer and Composer living in London. Having started his career with The K-Creative who were signed to Gilles Peterson's Talkin' Loud label in 1991, he has gone on to release three solo albums, Life Changes, Rising Son, and Short Circuits, play keyboards with bands such as Galliano, Raw Stylus & Two Banks of Four, remix over 50 tracks, and work at Xenomania. He currently releases music on his own label, Primaudial Records, writes & produces with artists such as Incognito, Dave Lee, Valerie Etienne, and Duke Dumont. He has an Ambient Electronic project called Ayota, and also makes regular radio shows. Alongside his production work, Ski holds the position of Head of Education & Curriculum at Point Blank Music School where he manages their degree programmes. He has also made over a hundred tutorial videos for the school's YouTube channel which have racked up over ten million views, and is an Ableton Certified Trainer. Tribute to Noel McKoy - 'Let Me Be' on Gilles Peterson's 6 Music Show

The wonderful British singer Noel McKoy very sadly passed away on Thursday 3rd November 2022. I had worked with Noel over the years, having been introduced by Bluey from Incognito, and was lucky enough to have him sing for me in 2006 when I played a gig at Cargo in London, followed by a Maida Vale session for Gilles Peterson's BBC Radio 1 show.

On Saturday 5th November 2022, Gilles (now on BBC 6 Music) played a tribute to Noel which included one of the tracks from that session 'Let Me Be' which featured Noel on lead vocals.

Ableton Note - First Beat with Ski Oakenfull

I'm really loving Ableton's new Note app which currently runs on iOS devices. It's essentially like having Ableton Live's session view in your pocket, and with Live's latest 11.2.5 update, also allows you to seamlessly transfer your Note projects to the desktop version.

A Tribe Called Quest - 1nce Again Remix Breakdown in Ableton Live (From the vaults - 2017)

This is a demo video that I found in the archives which I made for an event held at Point Blank Music School on 19th March 2017 called ‘Creative Sampling and Production Sessions’. I was challenged to sample a whole bunch of vinyl releases from Brownswood Records, and then use Ableton Live and Push to create a track.
The resulting track actually ended up as a remix of A Tribe Called Quest’s 1996 track ‘Ince again’ as I happened to have the acapella hanging about.
I also inadvertently created a nice chorus hook using the vocal from Anushka’s 2014 track ‘Never Can Decide’
