Ski is an Artist, Keyboard player, Producer, Remixer and Composer living in London. Having started his career with The K-Creative(link is external) who were signed to Gilles Peterson's(link is external) Talkin' Loud(link is external) label in 1991, he has gone on to release three solo albums, Life Changes, Rising Son, and Short Circuits(link is external), play keyboards with bands such as Galliano(link is external), Raw Stylus(link is external) & Two Banks of Four(link is external), remix over 50 tracks, and work at Xenomania(link is external). He currently releases music on his own label, Primaudial Records(link is external), writes & produces with artists such as Incognito(link is external), Dave Lee(link is external), Valerie Etienne(link is external), and Duke Dumont(link is external). He has an Ambient Electronic project called Ayota, and also makes regular radio shows. Alongside his production work, Ski holds the position of Head of Education & Curriculum at Point Blank Music School(link is external) where he manages their degree programmes(link is external). He has also made over a hundred tutorial videos for the school's YouTube channel(link is external) which have racked up over ten million views, and is an Ableton Certified Trainer(link is external). Ableton Push: Ski Demonstrates the Controller's Features

I've been lucky enough to have had Push for a few days now, and have been absolutely loving it. I was initially surprised by how heavy it was, but this makes it feel reassuringly solid and professional. I imagine it will mostly reside in my studio rather than travelling around in my rucksack!

Ayota Rehearsal for Corsica Studios Gig Part 1

This was a live rehearsal for a gig at Corsica Studios on Sat 9th Feb 2013..
I just wanted to try out the set.
It was also a celebration of the album 'Helicopter Cuts' being released on 8th Feb!
A bit scrappy, and internet kept dropping, but quite fun to do..

Ayota Live at Corsica Studios

Ayota Live at Corsica Studios

This is a gig I did at Corsica Studios on Saturday 9th February 2013 for Guy McCreery's Third Ear Label, who released the Ayota album 'Helicopter Cuts' the day before.

It was the first time to perform Ayota solo, as usually I get Simon Palm Skin, Jeremy Shaw, Shawn Lee and a vocalist to help me out.

My setup consisted of Laptop using Ableton Live, Novation Launchpad and a Korg NanoKontrol2.

I performed a selection of Ayota original tracks & remixes.. I will try to post a tracklisting soon!

There is a hilarious bit in the middle when a guy came up to me and asked if I took requests.. and then asked if he could plug his iPod in instead of listening to my set. I told him to go next door to where the techno was...

Ayota album launch gig @ Use Your Third Ear #1 - Corsica Studios

To celebrate the release of the Ayota LP 'Helicopter Cuts' on Third Ear records(link is external), Ski will be peforming a one hour solo set at the first official Third Ear night on the 9th February 2013.
The gig is taking place at Corsica Studios(link is external) in the Elephant & Castle, London.
